Choose or lose

I try to walk two miles a day. On a good day it takes me 35 minutes, today it took me one hour and fifteen minutes.

Was I walking really slow? no

Was it really hot? no

Did I get hit by a truck? no

Dog attack? no

I stopped and talked to four individuals whom God brought across my path.

Was this wise? Was it the best use of my time?

I have been thinking a lot about wisdom lately. I told you yesterday about visiting my son-in-law's children's ministry in GA. They have been using wisdom as a theme throughout the month of June. They are teaching the kids this definition of wisdom:

Knowing what God wants us to do and doing it

Matt recommended a book on wisdom I am reading. It is by Andy Stanley a pastor in Atlanta GA. Wisdom is basically choosing what God would chose each time you face a decision.

Back to my walk. I could have looked at these individuals and said l am on a mission I must finish my walk in 35 minutes or else. This would make perfect sense and could be seen by some as the right answer but was it wise, is it what God would have chosen?

Someone wisely said if you want to know how God would act in any situation look at how Jesus acted and you will have your answer. A great study in the Bible is how Jesus handled interruptions. He didn't view them as interruptions but appointments from God. Pretty wise, mmmm?

I think I made the wise decision by stopping and talking to these people and I believe I did God's will by listening to each of these individuals.

But I had to choose, a 35 minute walk or minister to these people by listening.

Choose or lose.

1:5 But if any man among you is without wisdom, let him make his request to God, who gives freely to all without an unkind word, and it will be given to him. 1:6 Let him make his request in faith, doubting nothing; for he who has doubt in his heart is like the waves of the sea, which are troubled by the driving of the wind.
