CHRISTIAN SNOBS
JESUS RETURNS TO NAZARETH MATT. 13:53-58
The people of Nazareth knew much about Jesus.
1. They had His teaching
2. They had His miracles
3. They had His character
4. They had His family
In spite of all this they choose to reject Him.
Why? They felt superior to Him.
CHRISTIAN SNOBS
1. The fall impacted our relationships
For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother's righteous. 1 John 3:11-12
2. We feel better than others
But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. Jonah 1:3
3. We compare ourselves to others
Oh, don't worry; I wouldn't dare say that I am as wonderful as these other men who tell you how important they are! But they are only comparing themselves with each other, and measuring themselves by themselves. What foolishness! 2 Cor. 10:12 (NLT)
4. Christ came to break down the barriers
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. [27] For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. [28] There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26-28
Why do I enjoy putting others down?
1. It makes me look good
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men--extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. Luke 18:11
2. It justifies sin in my life
So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first." John 8:7
3. It gives me pleasure
So they cried out again, "Crucify Him!" [14] Then Pilate said to them, "Why, what evil has He done?" But they cried out all the more, "Crucify Him!" Mark 15:13-14
