PASTOR'S UPDATE Faith Baptist Covington, VA
We will be showing the movie Amazing Grace over two Sunday nights August (15 and 22) 6 PM. I hope you will mark this on your calendar and plan to be a part of this event. It is the thrilling story William Wilberforce and how God used him to stop the slave trade in England. This is a classic example of the Zach Effect, how inward change resulted in outward action. Because of the length of the movie we will be breaking it up into two parts. A nursery and class for small children will be provided. Parents are cautioned that some of the facts about the slave trade are difficult for small children to understand and accept. Official Movie Web Site
Ahead of the movie the next two Sunday nights, Chris and I will be giving messages in the morning services that will center around God's grace to us. This Sunday Chris's message is "An Amazing Grace." He will be focusing on Romans 3 and 6. Romans 3 clearly presents the verdict that all are guilty of sin before God. However, instead of getting a punishment fitting for our crimes, we are able to receive mercy and grace through Jesus and His sacrifice. Romans 6 shows us what our response to such a grace should be. I hope you will be sure to come and allow God to work in your life through His Word.

This will be a great time to receive information about what your child will be involved with for the upcoming year and to talk with your child's teacher. Light refreshments will be served.
TEACHERS: If you teach or work with our children's ministry starting with the nursery and going through high school, please plan to be here at noon in order to fellowship with the parents that come. Try to be prepared to answer general questions that the parents may have.
